pizap.com142234416145112Review:

Clue meets Treemeadow College, and theatre professor Nicky Abbondanz must followthe evidence to find out who is killing the theatre staff/professors. Making matters a bit more uncomfortable is Nicky’s huge crush on Noah Oliver, a gorgeous assistant professor in his department. However, Noah is also the number one suspect because his tenure has been set aside for two years and he has been placed at all of the murder scenes. Nicky must use his skills as a drama teacher, and he and Noah set out to uncover the truth behind the murders in the same way that Sherlock did with Watson.

You will not want to put down this fast paced, funny, and delicious story created by Joe Cosentino. The characters have depth and feeling as well as humor. Each scene reminds me of my favorite genre: British satire with the speech and actions of the characters. I fell in love with the writing style of Joe and look forward to enjoying many more of his creations.

Phil Mitchell the manager at a Speedy Mart Store. A 35 year old out of the closet gay who manages a store full of misfits, Phil’s Monday begins with a bang. Phil is great at his job but his misfits; aging drag queen, a secret-drinker Wiccan BDSM Domme, a glam boy, and a former alcoholic, former homeless assistant manager bring all togetherdifferent problems to Phil. And, with a gorgeous Latin customer vying for Phil’s attentions, and a homophobic district manager, Phil’s life seems to be turning to in all different directions. However, one mishap after another does not break the bond, but brings all of Phil’s employees closer as a family.

This is a whimsical tale in which one fully understands the concept of 6 degrees of separation. Every day one walks in life closer to someone that they may know than they realize. I fully enjoyed all of the connections with all of the characters, and Phil definitely holds his own. I am looking forward to more books by Jeff Erno, especially if they are as quirky as Speedy Rewards.

A Game For Assassins by James Quinn ~ Blog Tour~ Review

A Game for AssassinsTitle: A Game for Assassins

Series: The Redaction Chronicles, Book 1

Author: James Quinn

Length: novel (528 pages)

Genre: mystery, thriller, spy thriller, espionage

four and a half moon

Rating: 4 1/2 out of 5 moons

pizap.com14223456391641Synopsis

The assassination of a Caribbean dictator?.The ?hit? on a traitor in Beirut??The brutal murder of a young CIA officer behind the Iron Curtain?..So begins the game??

It is 1964, the height of the Cold War, and British Intelligence is riding high with its top double agent network: Constellation.

But in the secret war fought across Europe the enemy is never far away and soon the agents of Constellation are targeted by an unknown team of assassins. In desperation British Intelligence sends in their best agent to protect the network and hunt down the killers.

Jack ?Gorilla? Grant isn?t your typical Cold War secret agent. Short, tough, uncompromising, rough edged. He doesn?t fit in with the elitist spies and debonair intelligence agents. He prefers working at the rough end of British covert operations.

But ?Gorilla? is one of the best ?Redactors? in the business. He?s an expert at close quarter shooting: quick to the draw and deadly accurate when it comes to the elimination of traitors and extremists on behalf of the British Secret Service (SIS). He is soon drawn into a game of cross and double cross where nothing is as it seems and even the most perfect spy can die in a wilderness of mirrors.

?A Game for Assassins? is an action packed edge of your seat thrill ride played out across the global stage of the Cold War.

pizap.com142234416145112

For me to be able to get to the end of a book of this length means it must contain something good. In this case, I was able to sink into the world of espionage and assassins. It’s a world in which the author builds an exceptionally good picture.

There’s a healthy dose of scene setting/back-story. And occasionally, I think there was more detail than necessary for the account. But, for the majority, it is done in a gripping mission based way which had me hooked from the early pages. While the various plots are all the things I love in such a novel, what I appreciated most was the way the author didn’t overcomplicate scenes with unnecessary technicality or things one has to Google. This made it easy to sink into the world created and connect to the characters. As for the main players, they ranged in background and physicality. It was refreshing to see few stereotypical movie type individuals.

Don’t let the ease of the read fool you into thinking this is a simple book. You will need your wits about you. The story is full of worldwide covert operations intended to change the balance of power, twists, turns and subplots. In the world of espionage, nothing can be taken at face value.

Even between agencies, the spy game is ruthless.

This story is not a remix of Bond, The Jackal or even Jason Bourne. At times, it’s bloody, and brutal, with people you want to survive, assassinated in the name of influencing the balance of power. We get to see the spy game at all levels; from the political, the planning, and the execution.

The different countries too had a particular way they sounded. I especially enjoyed the dry wit and candor of the British.

From the start, the story is engaging, and you will be hard pressed to stop reading. This novel was longer than the standard story I read, and I couldn’t put it down.

Happy reading

Lara

The White Aura series – Felicia Tatum ~ Review

Title: White Aura Series

Author: Felicia Tatum

Length: 872 Pgs

6s7t5l

Rating: 5 out of 5 moons

pizap.com14223456391641

Four novels and one short story in one place!

The White Aura series follows Scott and Livvie as they fight to keep their love, and lives, safe. Breaking a centuries year old curse proves to be more difficult than they expected. Old enemies become the victim, the one to save, while they find out they can’t trust some of those closest to them.

pizap.com142234416145112

Book 1: The White Aura

This story is a unique and awesome. Its a race against time and still working with fate so no one gets hurt. I seriously connected with Olivia and I couldn’t put it down. Olivia has gotten her world blown up in one night yet she took it extremely well. She finds out she has been lied to all her life by her emotionally distant parents. The only two comforts in her life are her best friend since childhood Juniper and Scott aka Mr. Sexy, her heart mate. Scott only found her a year before. He knew she was his immediately, he is a sorcerer with a horrible family curse. Olivia and him can not meet face to face til she is 17 and six month or she will die on her 18th birthday. That all was turned up side down when creepy popular jock, Aiden starts showing interest in her, unlocking her powers and putting her in danger forcing Scott’s hand to push the meeting sooner than expected.
I give it 5 out of 5.

Book 2: The Vessel

Talk about plot twists! I wonder how Scott, Olivia, and the group are going to pull this one off? OMG! Aiden had been through some hell and back. Poor kid, I hope there is a HEA for him. Everyone seems to be taking all this bad news in stride, I just hope Olivia doesn’t implode from all these hits that keep coming. Scott and Aiden really need to grow up and get along. Scott definitely needs to stop being selfish and listen to Olivia. He isn’t going to to be the only one torn up if something happens to her, but guys will be guys. I can’t wait to find out happens next! I give this one a 5 out of 5 also.

Book 3: Devlin’s Descendant

You have to be kidding me, right?! I had to stop myself from tossing my tablet across the room. The crap just got deeper and thicker. Are The Council really the good guys? They don’t seem like it. You can tell just by the way Harlow, council head acted and the way she talked about Scott’s family. They seem to be threatened by people more powerful than them. Who the crap do they think they are giving Olivia that kind of choice in such a sort time. Poor Olivia, it’s like one betrayal after another and now Kyle has lost his crap. The whole Sadie and Aiden situation is hilarious and so adorable. It’s Olivia and Scott vs the world I swear. She seriously needs to get mad instead of cry. She need to let it all out before something bad happens. That ending was something else. I have so many emotions running through me right now I can’t beginning to start sorting them out. I can not wait to read the conclusion. I give it a 5 out of 5.

Book 4: Unbound Destinies

Damn, Damn, Damn!! This is an emotional rollercoaster and I am officially drained. Olivia and Sadie have become bada$$! Olivia definitely has grown up a lot and has come into her own. She is very clever also. I am glad to see her and Kyle become closer and help each other. I feel so bad for Sadie and Aiden for their issues and my heartbreaks for Santos. Olivia and Scott are so mushy and cute. They have become closer and their relationship is more intense. I love what happens to a few members of the council, they are jerks. This story has a darker tone to it than the others. It has its bright spots in the darkness and it makes the fight more worth it. The impending doom hanging over head, pain, and sadness is felt through out. The story is such an entertaining read and sucked me in. I give it a 5 out 5.
